Who We Are

African Council is an independent, voluntary organisation dedicated to the needs of the African communities in Indiana and beyond.

The African Council Of Indiana has been established in 2021. To represent African communities’ rights and needs to the level of government best able to respond. The African Council of Indiana shall meet regularly to link and align African community and business interests, connecting, provide communication to and from, education, collaboration and advocacy for the African communities in Indiana.

Mission

The mission of The African Council of Indiana is to raise awareness around and advocate for issues affecting African communities in Indiana. It will provide a structure for giving voice to African communities in strategic and evidence-based ways, aimed at highlighting African presence, cultural diversity and representation. The African Council of Indiana shares responsibilities with other organizations that align with the principles and beliefs of TACI that impact community and representation activities. The African Council of Indiana is expected to coordinate its activities with these organizations in order to assure that these activities are complementary and carried out efficiently and effectively.

Vision

The Council's vision is to improve African community presence in Indiana and give voice to the issues impacting African communities. The vision of The African Council is to formulate a strategic approach to influencing outcomes and drive change on behalf of the African communities living in Indiana, recognizing and celebrating the differences and facilitating cultural exchange among the various communities the Council wishes to represent.

  • Showcase the diversity and cultural vibrancy of Africa. E.g. Building trust and unity, and hosting cultural events.

  • Driving a business network to help businesses with growth strategies, through greater collaboration

    and skills sharing. E.g. B2B, SME, Startup resourceshealth, work conditions, state budget etc.

  • Working with social and empowerment programs to drive change and create sustainable solutions for challenges faced by the community. E.g. Legal, Children, Living conditions.
